Hello,
I’m Amy
I'm Amy and I live in Bishop's Stortford with my teenage daughter.
I love travel, reading, good food and wine, movies, theatre and probably top of the list: mooching around antique shops, vintage flea markets (particularly those in France!) and any fancy independent interiors shops.
Meet the Designer
These hobbies are an escape from the everyday but also provide lots of new ideas for my work.
My interest in design started at a very young age and my parents house and later my own houses provided opportunities to practice and perfect the transformation of blank canvases into comfortable and characterful homes.
For me good design means spaces, furniture and fittings that are both beautiful and functional. Having said this, I realise that people will have different views on what is and isn't beautiful so I always listen carefully to clients, identify their style preferences and find a way to make them work well in their space and within their budget.

I tend to specialise in contemporary family homes that are both beautiful and practical but this can be interpreted differently for each client depending on what their favourite looks are. Each client has a unique character with different style preferences and their house should reflect this so that when they walk through the door they feel at home in a space that resonates with them. I work with you to help you identify what your likes and dislikes are and use my knowledge and skills to reflect that in a cohesive design that meets your needs.

That depends as projects vary in scope and size but timescales would be discussed with you as part of our initial consultation.
The design work can vary from a day for colour and fabric recommendations for a single room to several weeks for larger projects involving technical drawings, room layouts and furniture sourcing.
Implementation of the scheme is dependent on external factors - availability of trades, supplier lead times etc - but I would discuss these with you and adjust plans accordingly to make sure the project is delivered to your satisfaction.

To calculate the likely cost of your project you will need to consider the following elements: 1. Design work 2. FFE (furniture, fixtures and equipment) 3. Trades With regard to the design work, the Services page on this website should give you a rough guide but remember that each project is different and priced accordingly. I use our initial consultation to find out what your project involves so I can present you with a full proposal for the work with itemised costs.
The price of FFE can vary greatly depending on supplier and what you're looking for in terms of quality etc but I can help you find the right items within your budget. I charge a procurement fee for sourcing items but pass on all trade discounts where these are available. Unless you have tried and trusted tradespeople that you prefer to work with I would recommend tradespeople to carry out the work. You would agree a quote with them upfront and they would bill you directly.

I've worked with a variety of clients of different ages and backgrounds who live in a number of different types of property both modern and period - some small, some large. However, they all share the desire to have a home that looks stylish at the same time as being comfortable, welcoming, and functional. The other thing they have in common is that they don't have the time to achieve this goal and/or they don't know how to. For them, using a designer has helped them make the most of their home without forfeiting their own time and making costly mistakes.
If you want to be my next client give me a call.

I can help you identify what design is going to work best for you and your home - particularly helpful where partners may have opposing views on layouts or styles - and a fresh and experienced eye can come up with new solutions to satisfy everyone's wishes.

It's my job to be up-to-date with all the latest FF&E (furniture, fixtures and fittings) so I can introduce you to new products, styles and designs at the best prices saving you time and money.
I can take the stress out of the process by managing your project from beginning to end making sure the design is delivered in a timely and professional manner.
I can ensure your money is spent wisely to enhance and add value to your home.

At the start of the process we will spend time discussing the project aims and identifying exactly what you want to achieve. We will also work through what design styles, colours, textures, and shapes you like and dislike. After this consultation period I will have a very good idea of what you are looking for - I will share some rough ideas with you and will keep you informed as the design evolves. Therefore, it's unlikely that you won't like the finished scheme as it will be tailored to your preferences. Furthermore, the design boards and physical samples of different finishes and fabrics should give you sufficient information to feel confident about the design before committing to the delivery stage.
